Many people might see KanBo as a tool for communication, but it is much more than that. Yes, it does help teams communicate and collaborate, but it is also a powerful work coordination platform that can help organizations optimize work management with full transparency and trust.
KanBo’s workspaces, spaces, cards and elements allow teams to organize their work and track progress in a structured and meaningful way. The assignment of people to cards and the scheduling of cards help to manage workload and deadlines much more effectively. Card statuses and blockers indicate any roadblocks or delays and help to overcome them.
KanBo also allows for the creation of card templates, document groups, folders and documents, which helps to create consistency across projects and unifies work practices. Card relations and references to documents make cross-referencing and linking different types of information a seamless process. And version control ensures that work is only done on the latest version of documents, preventing inconsistencies and wasted effort.
KanBo’s visual representation of work, including kanban, list, table, calendar, timeline, and even mind-map views, helps teams to understand and visualize their work more clearly. Dashboards and reports give teams an overview of their progress and help to identify areas for improvement.
Finally, KanBo’s resource management capabilities allow teams to manage their resources effectively, balancing workload and ensuring that people are working on the right projects at the right time.
So, while KanBo may start as a tool for communication, it quickly becomes much more – a work coordination platform that can help organizations achieve their goals with clarity, transparency, and focus.

Use Case: Streamlining Supply Chain Management with KanBo Board Chat
Managing the supply chain is a critical task for any automotive business. With KanBo’s Board Chat feature, supply chain managers can easily communicate and collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders to streamline the process and enhance efficiency.
Suppose a business is working on a new project that requires inputs from multiple suppliers and vendors. In that case, the supply chain manager can create a new KanBo board for the project and invite all the stakeholders to join. Once everyone is on board, they can use the Board Chat feature to discuss project requirements, timelines, and any other details.
For example, a supplier may have questions about the specifications of a part, which they can clarify with the supply chain manager through the Board Chat. They can also share updates on the status of their work, enabling the supply chain manager to keep track of the progress in real-time.
Moreover, the Board Chat feature allows users to use all Microsoft Office functionalities, such as adding tables, images, or files. Suppose a supplier wants to share a technical drawing of a component. In that case, they can quickly upload the file to the chat, and the supply chain manager can review it within seconds, streamlining the approval process.
Suppose a supplier encounters any issues during the production process, such as a quality defect or a delay in delivery. In that case, they can inform the supply chain manager through the Board Chat, who can then take corrective actions to minimize the impact on the project.
By using KanBo’s Board Chat, supply chain managers can effectively coordinate and manage the supply chain process, enhancing overall efficiency and reducing the risk of delays or errors.
